Police arrest four suspects over robbery at NYSC lodge in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested four suspects for allegedly breaking into a National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, lodge in Yola and robbing 36 corps members of their mobile phones and other valuables.

According to the police, the incident occurred on June 27, 2026, at the NYSC lodge located within the Specialist Hospital in Jimeta, Yola, where the suspects reportedly stormed the facility armed with weapons.

The suspects were identified as Elkana Ishaya, 17, of Clarck Quarters, Jimeta, Mubarak Abubakar, 22, of Galadima Street, Jimeta, Musa Umar, 30, of Samunaka, and Kabiru Tanko, 20, of Galadima Street, Jimeta.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the suspects allegedly forced their way into the lodge and dispossessed the corps members of their valuables, including mobile phones.

He added that operatives attached to the Karewa Area Command launched an investigation immediately after the robbery was reported, leading to the arrest of the four suspects and the recovery of four stolen mobile phones.

Nguroje said the suspects are currently being investigated for alleged criminal conspiracy, possession of dangerous weapons, criminal trespass and robbery.

He further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to recover more stolen property and arrest other members of the robbery gang who remain at large.

The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Umar Hassan, reaffirmed the command's commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, especially members of the National Youth Service Corps serving in Adamawa.
